When lighting around hot tubs and swimming pools the first thing any outdoor lighting installer needs to consider is safety. This involves not only what type of lights to use but the lighting location, to help the client navigate the space safely and avoid
any trip hazards.
We would always recommend using extra low voltage lighting (12v-24v) around hot tub and swimming pool areas. This immediately negates many of the concerns that arise from water and electrics in close proximity.
Lighting immediately around the hot tub / swimming area, we would recommend our platinum range of recessed lights – which are small, powerful 450 lumens, 12v and IP67, perfect for lighting the area. We would recommend warm white output, which would be the perfect night time garden lighting ambience, when you will be spending a number of hours out in your garden.
For lighting steps and walkways towards the water, we would use the recessed side path light (pictured – comes in marine grade stainless steel and copper) which are great for illuminating spaces without causing any glare or over lighting the space. The best place is to position these lights in the corner of the walkways and in the fulcrums of the steps. The difference with our side lights over most path and waymakers is our specially designed reflector which projects the light out and across. Moreover, they come with toughened glass, 270 lumens & warm white output, IP 67 and 12v lights. Ideal when lighting around a water area.
